I am a 2015 graduate of Siloam Springs High School and hold a BFA in Studio Art with an emphasis in Ceramics from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. I am a former Visual Arts teacher at Siloam Springs High School, where I taught Visual Art I, Sculpture I, and Ceramics I & II, and co-sponsored the school’s chapter of the National Art Honor Society. I became AP Studio Art certified in 2024.
Before teaching at SSHS, I worked with students of all ages at the Community Creative Center in Fayetteville and served as a visiting artist for the CB to You program through the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. These experiences helped shape my belief that art education should be both skill-building and community-centered.
Alongside Art Club, I currently work at the John Brown University Campus Bookstore and maintain an active personal art practice in my home studio. See a brief selection of my personal portfolio, teaching approach, and student work below!
Hi, I’m MacKenzie!
Teaching Approach
Art Club is a welcoming, low-pressure space where creativity can unfold without unnecessary pressure or perfectionism. My goal is to offer thoughtful guidance without restriction—classes are hands-on, exploratory, and designed to encourage experimentation and growth.
Youth classes emphasize play, material exploration, and foundational skills. Teen ceramics focuses on developing technical ability, creative discipline, and connection through shared studio time. Adult Art Night provides a laid-back environment to unwind, create, and reconnect with the benefits of making—because engaging in art is not only expressive, it’s restorative.
Each participant is supported at their own level. Beginners receive clear, structured guidance, while more experienced artists are encouraged to deepen their ideas and refine their personal voice.
